Farm to School

The statewide Farm to School AmeriCorps program aims to bring locally grown foods to area schools. Since the 2008-2009 school year, Crawford County has been awarded two Farm-to-School AmeriCorps members. Current AmeriCorps members,  Kathleen Hein and Kate Maxfield provide nutrition education and work with local farms to source foods from local farms for meal and snack programs in the Wauzeka and Prairie du Chien school districts as well as Prairie Catholic Schools. You can learn more about what’s happening with Farm-to-School in Crawford County by visiting the links below or contacting Jane Schaaf at 608-326-0223.
